Learning to let go

Imagine you have a heavy bag of old clothes.

You take them with you everywhere with you.

The clothes remind you so much of your past, but they are heavy and stop you from picking up anything new. They carry memories - both good and bad - but by holding on to them tightly, your hands are full.

We all have a past that we carry with us, that shape us somehow.

But counselling helps lift the load.

It allows someone to share the burden with you for a while.

To give you the courage to go through that bag of old worn battered clothes and belongings, to decide what's yours, what belongs to someone else and what needs to be let go of, so there is room for something new.
